Heel pain can stem from a variety of underlying conditions, the most common being plantar fasciitis, which is an inflammation of the plantar fascia – a band of tissue that runs across the bottom of your foot and connects your heel bone to your toes. This discomfort can manifest in various ways, including a sharp, stabbing pain, dull ache, or a burning sensation. Most people affected by heel pain experience it in only one heel, though both heels can be affected.
