Cars rarely stop running at a convenient time. This article follows a made-up Airdrie owner through one week with a car that will not start, from the first failed morning to the day a buyer collects it. The owner, the car and the dates are invented, and no real customer is described. The steps, though, match what most sellers meet when they look for cash for non-running vehicles in Airdrie, so the story works as a map.
