An Ambu bag is a manual resuscitation device that assists in breathing when a person fails to breathe independently. It consists of a silicon-based inflatable bag that can be compressed by a trained health practitioner to deliver air to the patient’s lungs. There is a release valve that helps prevent overdistension of the lungs by releasing excessive pressure. There is also a valve that ensures the bag receives fresh air only.
